Volunteer needs for Children First/CIS programs vary throughout the year; please call (828) 259-9717 for more information
on how you can get involved.

Family Resource Center at Emma - Volunteers are needed to assist with the Food Pantry and Clothing Closet. Volunteer mentors are also needed to work with children in the after school learning centers at Pisgah View, Deaverview, and Woodridge Apartments. Spanish speaking volunteers are always needed for Latino Mother-Child Playgroup and for the Latino Learning Center. Volunteers are also needed on Saturdays during the spring/summer/fall to work in the organic teaching garden.

Project MARCH Learning Centers - Volunteers are needed to assist with our after-school program Monday - Thursday. Volunteers will help children with their homework and assist AmeriCorps members with enrichment activities. Call Barbara at 828-768-2073.

Advocacy - Children First/CIS can often use volunteers to assist with advocacy issues at the local, state, and federal levels. This may include making research, attending community meetings, and contacting elected leaders about critical children's issues.

Latino Learning Center - Volunteers are needed to supervise children playing educational games and eating healthy snacks while their parents attend computer classes. Volunteer facilitators are also needed.
