Whew! These past
few months have been
busy and we are not
slowing down. We
would not be able to
accomplish all that
we do without the
continued support of
our donors and
volunteers and our
amazing Board of
Directors and
staff. Below are
some highlights from
the past few
months that I would
like to share with
you. Enjoy!
Project
MARCH Summer Camp
students stayed busy
going tubing,
hiking, swimming and
camping. They
visited the Blue
Ridge Parkway
Destination Center
to learn about
animals and wrote in
their journals.
Project
MARCH Learning
Center students
received
back-to-school
supplies thanks to
the United Way
Hands-On and
Highland Circle
Group. Also
supplies went to
children in the Emma
community with
donations from All
Soul's Cathedral
Women's Group.
The
Family Resource
Center at Emma had a
successful Back-to-School
Rummage sale. The
Rotary Club of
Asheville Breakfast
donated food to the
food pantry.
Community members
and folks from
Hands-On Asheville
volunteered their
time in the
community garden.
Classes are still in
session for the
Plazas Comunitarias
basic education
program and the CCA
basic computer
program.
Happy
endings and new
beginnings...the
Project POWER/AmeriCorps
Team 11 graduated
and Team 12 members
are completing their
third week of
orientation.
Advocacy updates on
current legislative
issues have been
emailed and posted
on our website.
Most recently we
hosted the Health
Care Reform Forum at
the YWCA.
Remember, together
we can make a
difference and put
children first in
Buncombe County.
